Because people dissociate as a survival strategy, the connection to their bodies is disconnected. As a result, the brake is off. Like eating and not feeling satiety. Then you keep eating because there is no signal “enough” coming. So too with dissociated security pursuit. Then the brake is off, too. Add to that the fact that we have no idea that we do things to feel fundamentally safe. Introducing narcissism as the ultimate form of dissociation.

The dissociated world is extremely imaginary and there is no more brake, no human measure. No feeling when we are safe again and thus cannot stop the protective behavior to feel what is there now; the pursued safety or what metaphorically stood for it. Money, food, addictive substances, compulsive behavior, possessions, status, power etc
